To create the open floor of the kitchen and den that the clients wanted for entertaining, we first had to address the ill proportioned rectangular space the existing kitchen and den created. We removed the wall between the den and kitchen and created a transitional arch with an island to bring the two spaces together. This custom kitchen includes many specialty details such as custom carved corbels, open glass cabinets, countertop at various levels and built-in bookshelves. To create a built-in furniture feel in the kitchen we used two-tone cherry and distressed ebony cabinets with furniture feet.
