Lacking quality, warmth, and character, the previous kitchen was in need of a renovation. The poorly crafted wall cabinets did not take full advantage of potential storage space. The placement of the pantry closet divided the kitchen layout, and the space between the kitchen and family room was too open. We replaced all of the white cabinetry with a warm, stained maple cabinet and extended the wall cabinets to the ceiling. The inlay cabinet doors, rope molding, crown molding, end panels, and furniture feet all add a level of detail to the cabinetry that reflects the quality the clients desired. The pantry walls were removed, and a pantry cabinet was built in a new location. The new cabinetry, columns, and dropped beam were designed to create a subtle division between the kitchen and family room, allowing each room to be more functional and comfortable without blocking views or light between the two rooms. With these design changes and some wonderful detailing, we were able to transform this mediocre kitchen into a perfectly customized space of the highest quality.
