The fixtures and finishes in the previous bathroom lacked quality and character. The closet and the vanity areas lacked doors to provide privacy, and the door that did exist at the toilet & bath area encroached on the tight space with its swing. The fixtures, cabinetry and tile were removed. Pocket doors were installed at all three openings, providing privacy without taking up valuable space. The tub/ shower was converted to a shower in order to open up the space as much as possible. White subway tile was installed on the walls, slate hexagon tile on the shower floor and marble tile on the main floor. The vanity cabinet was custom built to take full advantage of the storage space and achieve the exact black stain desired. The marble was carried through to the vanity countertop and backsplash, as well as the unique niche created under the mirrored medicine cabinet. Recessed lights at the niche provide a wonderful night light glow and illuminate objects displayed on the recessed shelf. The vanity area is perfectly symmetrical and provides a beautiful view from the bedroom. The renovated space is a successful combination of updated modern fixtures and finishes with a classic design that will stand the test of time.
