As part of an entire master suite renovation, we were asked to create a master bathroom that reflected the personal tastes of the homeowners while providing the quality and design integrity that was missing in their existing bathroom. We created a symmetrical bathroom design with the entrance to the bathroom centered on the existing dormer window. A soaking tub sits directly below the window with a spacious and open shower on the right and a private water closet on the left. Contemporary, beech wood vanity cabinets were placed on either side of the bathroom door and provide wonderful storage and daily preparation space for each of the homeowners. Open shelves were designed in the corners to provide storage for towels as well as an optional display space for artwork the homeowners may want to display. Large wall mirrors were installed above the vanity counters, and a custom etched design was incorporated to reflect a similar detail the homeowners had seen during their travels. Honed marble was chosen for its white background and pattern of gray veining. We installed marble tiles on the floor and walls, marble slabs on the vanity counters and tub deck, and a marble mosaic tile on the shower floor. We tied the room together by adding the same wood used for the vanities on the tub face. This master suite was transformed into a stylish haven – it incorporates fixtures and finishes of the highest quality, the layout is spacious and comfortable, and the unique design reflects the contemporary style the homeowners desired.
