The owners of this 1950’s ranch home wanted to renovate their outdated and extremely inefficient kitchen, but they also wanted to create a dramatic change to the whole area around the kitchen. A wall separated the formal living and dining areas from the kitchen and den. The homeowners found that they never used the formal areas and wanted to change the entire space so that all of the areas were open to each other. We removed the wall and vaulted the entire area making one open and dramatic space visible as you walk into the front door. Two sitting areas (including a piano area) and the dining space surround the new kitchen. A large island with a unique pendant light above creates a wonderful focal point. The modern conveniences of the new kitchen provide all of the tools a cook could need, and the new open space is perfect for entertaining. The homeowners now feel like they are using and enjoying all of the areas of their home.
